Bundesliga 2021/2022: Bayern Munich v Bayer Leverkusen analysis

In a match that marked the opening round of the 8th Bundesliga, Bayern Munich handily and decisively beat Bayer Leverkusen 4-0. Mane, Sane, Musiala and Müller scored the goals for the Bavarians.

The Bavarians’ convincing win against Bayer made up for the defeat by Augsburg. Bayern dominated over Bayer and picked up three points.

Bayern Munich came into Friday’s match irritated by a rather unexpected 0-1 defeat to Augsburg in the previous round. “Bayer are currently on the edge of the relegation zone, so this rivalry seemed to be the perfect opportunity for the Bavarians to make up for their defeat a fortnight ago.

In the 3rd minute of the match, Bayern took the lead and Sane was among the scorers. The Bavarians clearly dominated Friday’s encounter and it was evident throughout the first part of the game. Bayer had a lot of trouble at times to get the ball out of their own penalty area and into the opposition half. The visitors created a few chances, but they posed no real threat to Neuer’s goal. Even before the break, Bayern played well. First, Musiala scored their second goal in the 17th minute and Mane scored six minutes before the break. The hosts played with Bayer’s defence at times and went into the break with a big advantage.

The second half was identical to the first part of the game. “Bayern clearly dominated, although they were not as determined in their attacks. The hosts, having the advantage, did not force the pace. Bayern scored again in the 54th minute, but Mane’s goal was cancelled out after VAR interference.

“Bayer went into the second half resigned to defeat. The game lacked perseverance and the fight for even a counter attacking goal. In the 84th minute, Muller sealed the outcome of the game. The Bavarians deservedly won 4-0.
