Bundesliga 2021/2022: Borussia Dortmund – Bayern Munich

The German Bundesliga has long been one of Europe’s top five leagues, along with the Premier League. The most successful club in the German league is Bayern Munich. The Bavarians have won the German league title a record 31 times. Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Mönchengladbach have five titles each. Both are worthy teams, their great match between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich proves it.

There are currently 18 teams in Bundesliga 1, all fighting for the league title. The league is divided into two rounds: Autumn and Spring. The two teams play each other twice during the season. The team that finishes in first place in the table can claim the German league title.

There is a fight not only for the championship, but also for the next places that give the right to represent Germany in the European competitions. Currently, the top four places in the table qualify for the Champions League group stage. The fifth-ranked team in the table gains direct promotion to the UEFA Champions League group stage, while the sixth-ranked team qualifies for the European competition from the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.

In addition, FC Augsburg, Union Berlin, Arminia Bielefeld, VfL Bochum, SC Freiburg, Greuther Fuerth, TSG 1890 Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen, FSV Mainz, Borussia Mönchengladbach, VfB Stuttgart and VfL Wolfsburg are all fighting for the title.

Bundesliga records

Unsurprisingly, most club records in Bundesliga history belong to Bayern Munich, who have dominated the tournament. The Bavarians have already won the league title 30 times. They also currently boast a record number of seven consecutive league titles won.

The Bavarian side also holds the record for most consecutive wins. Bayern’s players won 19 consecutive league games in the 2013/14 season. The unbeaten run of league matches is even more spectacular. In the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons, Bayern have not lost 53 games in a row.

However, not all records belong to Bayern. Borussia Dortmund are the Bundesliga leaders in terms of average attendance, with an average of 81,178 fans watching each home game in the 2015/16 season.

The player who boasts the most league titles is former Bayern Munich player Franck Ribery, who has triumphed with the Bavarian club as many as nine times. Among the coaches, Udo Lüttek leads the league standings, having won the title eight times (six with Bayern and twice with Borussia).
